Born on December 5th, 1986, as "Zeb Veazey," better known as SoBleeZy Zeb VeeZy aka Ozone420 is an American Hip-Hop/Rap Recording Artist and Songwriter from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Hailing from Fort Wayne, the homegrown rapper moved away at the age of 24 to embarked on his music journey, ultimately leading him to several different destinations. His first stop was in the Bay Area, where he resided in Hayward, California for over a year before eventually moving to Las Vegas, NV. Over the past decade, he has made Las Vegas his home while simultaneously serving as the Creator, Founder, and CEO of thctreehouseculture.com, a record label and clothing brand.
The abbreviation"O.z" in his name stands for "Own zone," representing his belief in being in his own zone and remaining unbothered. "The inclusion of '420' is a tribute to his childhood best friend, Cam, whose birthday, in passing, he honors and celebrates." Ozone420 created this moniker and the song "Golden Gates" to commemorate Cam's significant presence throughout his personal journey in life.
During his early years, SoBleeZy grew up on the Southside of Fort Wayne alongside his five brothers and one sister, making him the middle child in a family of seven. Raised by his mother and stepfather, the rapper, identified as the fourth child, was immersed in a musical environment. His stepfather, a singer/drummer, served as a role model, inspiring SoBleeZy to observe and learn the blueprint of making music. These early experiences included witnessing live rehearsals with his stepfather's band in the living room before eventually opening his own studio.
Interestingly, music runs in the family as three out of the seven siblings possess musical talents in various areas such as producing, singing, rapping, songwriting, or engineering. Furthermore, SoBleeZy biological father was a guitarist and songwriter before his passing during the rapper's freshman year of high school, demonstrating a direct musical influence in his lineage. Clearly, the apple didn't fall far from the tree in terms of his inherited musical aptitude and passion.
During high school, SoBleeZy briefly attended Southside High. However, his academic journey faced challenges as he was expelled twice, once during his freshman year and again during his sophomore year. Eventually, he made the decision to drop out of school altogether during his junior year. The main reason behind this decision was the discrepancy in credits compared to his peers who started with him. Feeling that he was falling behind academically, he chose to end his high school education.
With ample free time at his disposal, SoBleeZy began writing songs at the age of 16 and started taking his music seriously. Unfortunately, alongside his musical pursuits, his young and impressionable nature led him to become entangled in street activities by associating himself with the wrong crowd. This interference negatively impacted his decision-making process, diverting his focus away from music.
In 2008, SoBleeZy found himself in trouble when he was incarcerated following a police raid on his friend's mother's home. The raid was conducted in relation to three class B dealings and possession of crack cocaine. However, the case was eventually dropped due to issues with the credibility of the confidential informant (C.I.) used by the police. It was found that the informant had been coerced by the police to single out SoBleeZy friend from a photo array of six pictures, leading to the raid on his friend's mother's home and the subsequent consequences for her foster care licensing.
After his release in 2009, SoBleeZy faced further troubles when the police began investigating a murder that occurred in the vicinity of his home while he was at work. Somehow, he was falsely implicated as a suspect, leading to repeated harassment by the police. Feeling the pressure mounting, in 2011, SoBleeZy made the decision to leave the city in an attempt to distance himself from the unjust associations. However, prior to his departure, in February 2010, he experienced another devastating loss when his best friend fell victim to drug-related violence during a robbery gone wrong. The incident involved a setup over two pounds of drugs, and SoBleeZy was left feeling betrayed by those close to him, especially one associate who failed to show up for his best friend's funeral, demonstrating a lack of respect and loyalty. This tragic event served as a wake-up call for SoBleeZy, making him question who he could trust and putting himself in his best friend's shoes, contemplating how others would treat him in a similar situation.
Amidst the loss of his best friend and the police's attempts to associate him with a murder, SoBleeZy made the difficult decision to leave his city behind, leaving behind the pain and uncertainty that had plagued him. However, the challenges did not end there. In 2017, he found himself in a toxic custody battle with his baby mama due to her infidelity, which put his career on hold as he fought for his rights to have access to his children. This legal battle has persisted, and even in 2023, O.z continues to fight for his rights as a father.
Despite facing immense adversity and enduring significant personal pain, SoBleeZy has managed to bounce back, demonstrating resilience and perseverance. He has found a way to prevail over the obstacles that life has thrown his way, proving himself to be a survivor in the face of numerous challenges.
In June 2011, SoBleeZy Zeb VeeZy released a mixtape titled "Real Estate of Mind" on Datpiff.com, BandCamp, and Hotnewhiphop.com featuring artists from his hometown, Kae Prodigy and Nyzzy Nyce from the group CertiFLYYED, as well as his brother, Gifted Causey and Rest in Peace Chad Deutsch. The mixtape was hosted by DJ Eclipse and produced by C Statz and Chad Deutsch, all under his previous rap alias, Z.VZ Da Fanatic. However, he later changed his name to 4/20 in 2012.
In 2014, he released a single called "Feeling Myself" on the day of 4/20, which generated a lot of buzz. Later that year, he followed up with another single and video for the song "For the Love" featuring LAZR. This track was well-received by fans due to its versatile style and conscious lyrics.
In the following year, SoBleeZy dropped additional singles such as "Coolin," "Golden Gates," and "Thick Line Between Real & Fake" featuring Euroz & King Los. After releasing a few singles and a couple of videos, the rapper released his debut album "My Way is the Highway" on 4/20/2016. The album included the single "Highway Rollin'" featuring Dizzy Wright, as well as the fan-favorite track "Too High for High School."
